Liton made his ODI debut in December 2015 against Zimbabwe. He scored 36 runs in the match and was named the player of the match. He went on to play in the 2016 Asia Cup and scored his first international century against India in the final.

Liton's performances in the 2018 Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka earned him widespread acclaim. He was the top scorer in the tournament, scoring 140 runs in four matches, including two fifties. He played a crucial role in Bangladesh's victory over Sri Lanka in the final, scoring an unbeaten 34 off 25 balls.

Liton Das made his Test debut for Bangladesh against India in Hyderabad in February 2017. He scored 44 runs in the match but was unable to prevent a heavy defeat for his team. He scored his maiden Test century in the second Test against Zimbabwe in November 2018. His century helped Bangladesh win the match by 218 runs.
